Show notes
In today’s episode, I mentioned:
- Save yourself time and let me help you stand out! Check out my tailored coaching services.
- Episode 1 – Is your approach to interviews all wrong?
- Episode 2 – 5 reasons you should always be preparing for a job interview
- Episode 15 – The top 15 common interview questions you need to prepare for
- Three other FREE resources:
- I recommended that you ask yourself the following questions then record your answers in a notebook on a regular cadence throughout the year:
- What went well this week? What went poorly?
- Where did I get frustrated? (could be a good example of self-reflection and new behavior you talk about later)
- Where did I really hit the mark?
- What feedback did I receive from a boss, peer, client, co-worker, business partner? Did someone tell you that you were really great at something?
- Write down the top 3-5 skills you think you’ll need to demonstrate in your next job interview. During your reflection times, ask: Where did I use skill #1? If I didn’t how could I have used it? Then do the same thing for skill #2, #3, etc.
- Did you learn or come across anything interesting recently? For example, did you read an interesting article with lots of data about your industry? Or did you listen to a really good podcast interview? Or watch a Ted Talk? Think about what you learned, any opinion you have on it, then document both. This will come in handy when you’re ready to impress an interviewer with really robust questions at the end of your interview. If you haven’t listened, check out podcast episode 5 (transform your interview questions using the S.H.O.W. Method (TM))
I also mentioned books and podcasts that have helped get me make progress on career goals. I mentioned:
- Michael Hyatt and his book “Your Best Year Ever“
- Jon Acuff and his books ‘Start’ and “Finish”.
- Happen to Your Career (website and podcast)
- The Ken Coleman Show
